Basca Indian in Colchester

"Our family had a wonderful meal at Basca! The food was absolutely authentic and full of flavour, every dish felt like home-cooked goodness with the perfect blend of spices. Recommend the Aloo Tikki Chaat, Five Green Saag and Dal Makhani. The staff were warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home. Highly recommend this restaurant if you want a true authentic Indian meal in Colchester. At last there is a proper Indian Chef in Colchester."

"Indian restaurants are rarely Indian. This one is , with a Southern Indian chef. The result is spectacular - complex flavours in the curries, lamb that has been slow cooked for 3-4 hours, tamarind lamb spare ribs bursting with flavour, nana were soft and crispy on the edge. If you like great curry, go here, you will not be disappointed. Also it is within a boutique hotel - if you are on holiday a nice room in a period building with a fantastic curry . What more could you want?"

"Wow!!! This place is totally different to any other Indian restaurant. Amazingly different setting which is relaxing, beautiful & almost homely. The service was second to none as all staff were so polite & helpful. The food is completely different from any other Indian restaurant i have ever been too. Totally amazing food which will have you salivating with one look at the real authentic & different from the norm menu. I honestly think this is how an Indian restaurant is meant too be. Everything about it was a cut above the norm. I honestly thought it was second too none. Tried the rest? "An absolute gem of a place, the food was spectacular not only in taste but presentation too. The mango wings were show stopping, full of flavour and perfectly cooked. The kebabs were the best we have ever tried and that is no exaggeration. The ambience at Basca’s Indian Street food was nothing short of impressive and impeccable. The service we received was out of this world with a lot of attention to detail showcased. To top it off the head chef (Bhaskar) came to greet us which was in our opinion very kind of him to do that which made our evening feel completely special. We strongly recommend visiting this gem of a restaurant. It certainly won’t be the last time we come here. Our new favourite Indian restaurant in Colchester. "My wife and I joined the friendly team at Basca to celebrate Valentine's Day. There was a set menu for meat eaters and a separate vegetarian set menu, or guests could order from the a la carte menu. The tables were beautifully laid and the environment was stylish. We ordered from the meat and vegetarian set menus at £45 per person which started with a glass of prosecco, topped with a strawberry. We both really enjoyed the food and atmosphere which was enhanced by the beautiful voice of singer Emma Maxey. Emma performed a range of songs from familiar pop songs to less familiar (to me) country and western tracks. Emma's vocal range was incredible and towards the end of the evening she showed amazing adaptability by performing a series of requests from some of the restaurant guests. UPDATE My wife and I returned to Basca last night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We decided to try the thali offering - my wife ordered the vegetarian and I ordered the meat option. The food was beautifully presented, plentiful and delicious. We were served by Anne, who was friendly and charming and to top off a wonderful evening, Rowland offered us a complimentary celebratory drink. Another awesome evening. We will definitely return!"

"The food was amazing and delicious as well as the way the food was presented. Our waitress Anne was helpful recommending what I should get based on my preference and taste and spice. A-pond walking in was greeted warmly and seated quickly. The atmosphere and decoration was great, prefect for coming with friends or family for a nice meal. Definitely would be recommending to others."
